If you haven’t noticed, I use this blog to test out wordpress features. Recently I stumbled upon a Facebook Autoconnect that makes signing up for WordPress as easy as having a Facebook account. You’ll notice a new button that says “Login with Facebool” that if you click will ask a couple questions. After answering and approving, you’ll be part of this blog. Presto.
But why would you want to be part of a personal blog? Well, I also found some nifty, simple, forum software. Does this blog REALLY need a forum? No. But now I know how to setup this stuff so I can use it elsewhere. Wink.
Left Friday night to go to DrakeCon, shut down my laptop and left it on my desk. Had a fantastic time at the con, but that is a story for later. Came home and my laptop wouldn’t boot to windows. Took it over to my brother, started running through all the tests, pulled out the hard drive and listened to it click. Shit fuck crap damn. Everything is on that drive. A couple months ago my backup drive went out and I hadn’t had the time to replace it yet. The last three years of work are lost. Gone. Most of it is still alive and well on the internet. Some of its not. I’ve lost all my source files for AYTJ?, Bear Swarm!, and some other projects I’m not talking about yet. This means all the card design I had for AYTJ? is gone, I have to start fresh. All of our music cuts for Bear Swarm! are gone along with the raw audio. I’m going to have to re-do all of it. Luckily I have next Mondays episode safe on my iPod so Bear Swarm! won’t miss a beat. This hurts. Years of work just gone with a simple click.
I’m at work now, luckily I work for a computer retailer and repair shop. My laptop is in the other room right now getting a new (much larger and faster) hard drive and Windows 7 (was using XP) so I guess I’m moving up in the world. The techs are going to see if they can’t salvage my old hard drive but I’m not hopeful. I’d rather be crushed now and start dealing with this shit then hold out hope and never get my work back. Anyway, this is really only a small setback. Most of my stuff is safe online and for the fans everything should proceed as planned. At least this has kicked my ass to get my home desktop back up and running as my backup machine again.
Update: It turns out that one of my coworker’s hobbies is data recovery. The dude is a DR magician. I might be getting the majority of my work back. We’ll see whats corrupted and gone later… if I even get 10% back I’m going to be very very pleased.
Update 2: Electric Boogaloo: As of now, it appears I have 100% of my data back. My heart is lifted and a sense of rightness has been restored to the world.
I know this site has been quiet for awhile. After loosing my job I re-focused my efforts and maintaining a writing blog fell to the bottom of my priority charts. Now that I’m back to work I’ve got a few projects to update you fine folkers on.
Eidolon
I’ve actually been thinking about Eidolon quite a bit lately. I’m going to re-engineer the base mechanics into a little system I’m tentatively titling the “Mortality Engine” right now. Anyway, I’m going to make the game more ghostly power based, using abilities like Walk-Thru, the ability Ghosts have to pass through solid surfaces, as skills instead of separate powers. Anyway, there is a LOT in my head. Expect radical changes.
EotW
Evolution of the World was originally posted as an archive for a old project I was working on with a friend. I’ve actually been thinking about it again. I might start drafting it into a Systemless Setting. We’ll see.
Systemless Mechanics
I started the Systemless Mechanics as a lark. I had a few ideas but no solid system I wanted to attach them to. My next idea involves incorporating Narrative Control into other systems seamless. I plan to present a few options for different types of mechanics to tie the narrative to. Anyway, you’ll see.
The Miskatonic Chronicles
That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange aeons even death may die.

Look to your right. See that little chat screen? You can chat with me whenever I’m online from my site via Digsby. How posh is that shit?
I’ve gathered up some of the writing I’ve had posted around the internet before. Most are unpublished yet, I’m re-reading and re-writing. One, a short zombie story, has cropped up onto the site already. They are being back-dated to when I first posted them so you won’t see them cropping up early on the main page. Sorry guys, trying to keep come chronology in tact here. There are two more short stories I have to edit and a ton of draft material I wrote for a failed comic book project with a friend of mine. I’m not sure if I’ll edit the drafts, since they were just rough drafts, but read over them and see if they are worth time anymore.
I’ve also changed the theme. I like this one. Fits a writing blog.
Welcome to the future home of the Blog of Justice. This is the public web blog for myself, Rob Justice. I’m just this guy, you know, but I do a podcast over at www.BearSwarm.com (the main host of this site) and I’m pretty sure if you’re here then you’ve been there… if not… You should go there.
Anyway, I’m pretty much just dropping this so I can play with theme stuff but I can tell you a little bit about whats going to be here. See, I’m currently writing a game and I figured I’d start developing it more publicly in hopes of getting more feedback. Plus, I like writing and this will be a place to post little pieces of the projects I start writing and never finish. Again, in hopes that people will send feedback and get me back into writing some things I lose track of.
Expect to see a lot of fiction and not much personal stuff. Just not about music, I do that over at Ideology of Madness, or personal stuff. My personal stuff tends to come out on the podcast or not get shared. Anyway, I’m rambling and I have work do to on this site still. Stay tuned.
